The Good News!

Many things bind us: self-interest, addictions, broken relationships, anger and bitterness, destructive pasts,
or unforgiveness.  Sin captures our minds and hearts, separating us from God’s intended purpose and design for our lives – leading us to a path that could eternally separate us from Him.

The Answer – The Cross

God’s love bridges the gap of separation between God and You.  When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave, it was to pay the penalty for your sins.  Jesus frees us of the sin that binds us and gives us new life.  This new life gives us the freedom to serve God and become the person you were created to be.

What Must I do to accept this invitation?

The Bible reminds us that “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).  And there’s more Good News!  God can help you repair other relationships, too.

Jesus has promised to make us free from all bondage (John 8:36).
To begin a personal relationship with God and to experience His freedom, here is a good starting place:

1.  Acknowledge. Be honest to say “I am a sinner, living on my own terms, in need of God.
2.  Repent of your sins.  That means turn around and go the other way.  God’s way.
3.  Believe and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, died for your sins, and that God raised him to life again.
4.  Give Lordship of your life to Jesus.  That’s how you make him, “Lord.”

Here is a suggested prayer – read it first and then pray it out loud from your heart.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness.  I believe you died for my sins.  I turn to you and invite you, right now, into my life.  Let your freedom and peace enter my heart.  Make me new.
I want to trust and follow You as my own Lord and Savior.  Help me to tell others of your love.
  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
